My daughter is 14 and going through hell at school. Her peers cleverly undermine and alienate her in subtle cruel ways. She is in bits. I have approached her form teacher, she seems aware of the problem but doesn't seem to be doing very much. My daughter's self esteem is nil. She looks awful and dreads going in to school. What to do?

If the school are not responding you need to take it higher. Go to the head, or the LEA. Do it now, and make sure your dd knows you are taking action as this will make her feel supported and as though something is being done to finish it. If they don't act, ask to move schools asap. Hope it works out ok for your poor dd.

My dd had the same at her first secondary school. She was constantly made fun of because she was quiet and wanted to work. What really didn't help was at her school there were other pupils who you could go to if you were being bullied but they were the ones who were bullying!

We spoke to her form tutor, and her Head of House who all said they would do something but it continued. In the end we moved away from the area (retirement) dd went to a new school when she was 14 and has become a changed child.

Whatever response you get from the school keep observing your dd and if you feel things are not improving move her as our dd confided to us after we had moved that she had wanted to kill herself as she hated school so much.

having bee through similar, i would remove her and send her to a different school.

of course this goes agaist the spitit of justice that one would like to see in these situatios, but that is what i would do.
