My DS is being picked on...

He's 6 years old and I've noticed recently along with him coming home and telling me that he's is being ganged up on and picked on by particular members of his class.

The first initial thing I noticed was at a festival the school held, he was ganged up on by a couple of so called friends and even after I intervened which I try not to do, they still proceeded to throw my DS to the ground and 'get him' whilst on the floor. Today when waiting for the school to open, my DS started playing with a couple of them and one of them out of the blue decided to throw him onto the ground...Twice! I got my DS to stand with me and spoke to his teacher. I got the feeling she wasn't really taking what I was saying on board which has left me feeling like I don't know where I go from here. My DS has came back from school and after asking him whether he had a good day he told me he did but, didn't like it when people throw him onto the ground.

I think this is way too much a bit of name calling is to a certain degree OK but they are full on throwing him around and it is unacceptable, I don't believe moving schools is the answer as you get the likes of these children everywhere! What would you recommend I do? I'm all new to this but I don't want my ds to be put off of school by a couple of horrid children in his class.

Any advice I would really appreciate it.

The fact the teacher didn't grasp the seriousness of this situation is a worry in itself. You've witnessed what's going on too! Go straight to the head and explain what's happening. Most schools have an anti bullying policy in place, keep on until you get a satisfactory outcome. Your sons well being is top priority. Good luck. X

Thank you for responding, I was beginning to give up hope! I'm thinking about next step up because my DS now tells me it happened over playtime as well.
