DD, 12, slapped by boy at school

DD very upset this morning and actually pretended to have been sick so she didn't have to go to school.

On Friday, a boy slapped her across the face in her Chemistry lesson. Today, he made disparaging remarks about me (I've never met or seen him) and she's so upset.

She also found out from her best friend that on Friday, some other boys were trying to persuade another girl from being DDs friend on the basis she is strange. I think what they were getting at is that she actually has her own identity and they are just one of the pack.

I've tried to give her some tips on dealing with it but at what point do you call the school and have them sort it out?

And, is this the age at which boys change from being little babies to trying to assert their authority in whatever way possible? You almost feel sorry for their future wives now!

What you do is report the slap now and make a general reference to the other behaviour as background.

By the way, I'm mum of 2 boys now aged 18 and 19 and this sort of behaviour is not typical male, it's typical bully!

Thank you forty. I don't have any experience whatsoever of bringing up boys (apart from DDs father but that's not the best example!)

I also would be onto the HoYR asap. Totally unaceptable. This needs dealing with sharpish and I'd want feedback and the situation monitored.

Poor ddSad.
