My DD is 4 months now and is feed totally on demand. Her weight gain has slowed right down and I wondered how many feeds a day she should be doing at this stage?

Thanks

What do you mean slowed right down ?
How often do you feed her ? what are her nappies like ?

There isn't an answer to that one louli. She should get as many as she wants. Weight gain does slow down at this stage as baby gets more active and uses up more calories. At 4 months she should be capable of regulating her own needs. If she is well, peeing and pooing and looks healthy, I would just avoid the scales TBH.

She started off on the 50th centile and I took her to be weighed today and she had only put on 17 ozs in seven week. She seems to pee and poo well but I have been on 3 types of anti-biotics over the last month and wonder if this is affecting her.

She tends to feed a lot in the evening, once in the night and about 4 times during the day.

Her weight gain is absolutely fine. If you have been unwell needing antibiotics, then you milk supply might have lessened. However, as long as you feed her when she asks fot it, she will be fine. Has she been looking for more feeds? Are you better now?

There is a very simple saying... if it comes it must come out.... if she poos and wees well.... chances are it's absolutely fine.
As Mears say babies do slow right down... my own DS did not gain a single oz at 12 weeks for 3 weeks in a row... I worried (for nothing )

Hi Mears!

My DS went from 80th+ centile to 50th. Crossed 2 lines which they didn't like. Put on weight but v.slowly. (He was a fatso baby to start with as overdue). However, was absolutely fine, fed on demand, and now a v.healthy 9 yrs. As long as he was happy so was I.
