Text (page 61):

Are you breast-feeding, Katie?
----
No, it's brilliant I have 20 crates of teats and bottles -- I don't have to sterilise or heat anything, you literally take the teat out of the pack, screw it on, throw it away. I don't care what people say - you don't have to breast-feed. They gave me a tablet that dries your milk up so my boobs haven't hurt or leaked or anything.

Peter: Junior didn't breast-feed and he's turned out fine.

So why did you decide not do breast-feed?
----
I don't want a baby drinking from me - the thought of it makes me feel really funny. I think only a certain person could handle my knockers.

at throwing away the teat every time, that'll be good for the environment

no warm milk? poor baby.

ffs so she isn't breastfeeding. she is allowed to bottle feed you know.

Report
mamamea · 02/08/2007 22:33

the problem is the quite blatant product placement of something that is ILLEGAL to advertise.

Not to mention the ignorant comments.

presumably all that augmentation would mean she couldn't breastfeed anyway though???

Report
Whooosh · 02/08/2007 22:33

Well Ia m very pro-choice,breast or bottle and having produced no milk due to grief see no problem with bottle feeding whatsoever.
This photo however shocked me,as did the statement-what was the point-other than,(I assume) she was paid for product placement.

Was reading an article in Closer yesterday (I know long story) but it was congratulating Jordan for getting back to 9 stone in weeks after the birth on a weird celery juice diet. It also said that she had stopped Bfing Princess as doctors had told her she had to if she wanted Botox! Was surprised she could BF TBH but what a statement, I'm not Bfing as I can't have botox.

BTW according to
www.smahcp.co.uk/Home/productinformation/productrange/gold.aspx

Wide range of formats for parents:

  • 900 g and 450 g cans of powder: Ideal for home use
  • Individual powder sachets: Quick and easy to prepare with no need to scoop
  • Ready to use cartons: Perfect for use on the go
  • 100 ml bottles: Available from UK hospitals

So she's using a product that is NOT available from retail outlets, only from hospitals and SMA itself.....

Is this form of advertising legal, and governed by ASA/other laws?

im with moondog on this...
but what else do we expect?
each to their own and all, fair play she probally would have difficulty breast feeding, but no need for the blatant advertising.
thats my 2penceworth.

(again v pro-choice, but good god, talk about irresponsible advertising/journalisn!)

yeah, i thought those were hospital bottles.

Nemo2007 · 02/08/2007 22:44

you can buy these bottles as when I worked in a pharmacy we used to deliver boxes of the premade bottles to a lady with twins.

of cause she will have been paid.......i can't imagine she would do anything without being paid

btw, OK! magazine has 2.5 million readers, nearly all of whom are young women (i.e. potential mothers)

my first thoughts looking at the first picuture was.........what can't she even cradle her in her arms to give her the damn bottle!

At least the picture of Peter shows him holding her close enough for her to see him

hatrick - you put it much better than me (hadn't read the rest of the thread until after I posted )

like it or not, jordan/katie price is a role model for a lot of young women. im sure that a lot of celebs have ff, they've just not advertised it!

I think that would make it harder to see the label.... Advertising people think about these things....

no it wouldn't - I've got pictures of me feeding DS2 cradled in my arms - and if you stuck a label on you'd have been able to see it in a photo so there

I ff and am totally pro-choice. Don't care if she doesn't bf.

But that's not legal is it?

Complaint to ASA?

(damn tacky anyway. reminds me of Flakes and Anthea Turner...)

I do agree with feeding being her choice. But did we really expect breastfeeding from some one whose whole 'career' has been about sexualising her breasts?
I have lodged a complaint with the advertising standards agency - www.asa.org.uk it took about 2 minutes so lets all complain about the outrageous product placement and not so subtle placement of the follow on milk with the same logo as on the bottles being fed to her baby.
I am double annoyed at her as I and my older sister are both gingers and have always very much enjoyed being a gorgeous ginger. 'I love her anyway, even though she's a ginger' !!! WTF!!!
What a completely stupid cow she is.

Report
mamamea · 03/08/2007 10:43

i'm not sure ASA can handle this complaint, but have submitted one anyway. Might need to go to Trading Standards?
