Trying to salvage BF PART 2

Has anyone used the SNS system? I have just purchased it and tried it last night and was a disaster. I felt like I was forcing my boob into DD's mouth. And quite fiddly as Tiktock said it would be.

I am trying sooo hard to increase milk after stopping BF (and expressing) for nearly 3 days (all explained in my earlier thread).

So any tips on getting this SNS thing right? Does it take ages to get a hang of it?

I have also hired a double pump to help stimulate the breasts more.

Or am I just driving myself mad and should be happy that DD has started out with some bf and time to call it a day? Just feel like a failed breastfeeder again! (DS was combined feed for 4 months - BF was hard first time round too!)

My DH sees me in tears on a daily basis and I view other BF with real jealousy....

Els - drop the SNS if it's too fiddly. It is certainly not essential to starting up bf again.

Don't use something that makes you cry and which doesn't even work for you!!

I think you will get more benefit from keeping your baby close day and night and maximising the opps for direct bf, plus any expressing you can do.

Keep in touch

I used it, it was a bit fiddly but I got the hang of it relatively quickly. Tbh I think the main benefit was psychological for me, as I could give him the formula he needed without feeling I was undermining the breastfeeding.

I had help from a lactation consultant, do you have any rl support?

I also found the videos on the jack neumann website very useful.

Good on you for trying so hard. I'm not a great one for being supportive but just wanted to share with you what my dh told me before every feed when things were going badly: 'remember that the most important thing you are giving him is love with every sip. Whether he ends up fully bf, partially bf or entirely ff is completely secondary to the fact that you're trying'.
