Infant feeding

Breastfeeding and going to a festival without my baby?

Hello,

I am going to V festival in August for 1 day and 1 night. My partner is going to have Ben and I will be leaving him expressed milk, but I am worried about my boobs getting sore while I am there, there won't be anywhere I can express and will not having my baby suckle for 1 day effect my milk supply?
I really want to go, but keeping up breastfeeding is more important.

wont affect your supply i wouldnt think but you might get uncomfortable. you might want to sit on the loo or somewhere when you are there and express by hand a bit just to throw away. how old is he?

I left my then 11 month old for one whole day to go to Monsters of Rock. It was very painful (& that was only about 12 hours).

shouldn't affect the supply but if you are bfing full time then , if you are anything like I was, your boobs will be in agony!!

Will you have a tent for a bit of private expressing time? Will be very uncomfortable and might muck your supply up a bit if you don't. Depends on how often you are feeding then really - I had to leave DD2 for an afternoon and evening when she was still fully BF and had to express three times and was still leaking everywhere!! Enjoy though

my ds is 7 months old and I went out for a few hours and came back with one rock solid and painful boob.

First time I left DS for the evening I ended up in a disabled toilet hand expressing to relieve my rock hard breasts. Since then I always carry my breast pump with me if I am leaving him with someone else and if it's not expressed in a proper clean environment I just chuck the milk.

You don't have to be somewhere special to express, you could just do it sat in the loos, or even take a big poncho or something and sit in a dark corner of a noisy tent and and no-one will be any the wiser. So long as you aren't keeping the milk it doesn't need to be expressed anywhere sterile.. just take off enough to make yourself comfortable and fling it. For the same reason the pump doesn't need to be kept sterile either.

He will be five months. Suis, the idea of the poncho is a good one. I know my boobs will get sore, Ben has just started to sleep through the last 2 nights and I can't wait for him to wake up (am I really saying this?) to feed as my boobs hurt so much. So I would rather express and then I can jump about to the Foo Fighters!
Thanks for all your help.
