Does anyone know if AF comes & goes depending on frequency of BFing??

I've been exclusively BFing for 4.5 months. I've had 2 AFs and expected another AF on Monday (so am 4 days late). I did one PG test and it said mildly positive and 3 since were negative. I have stepped up the expressing in the past 3 weeks as DD has started going to a child minder 3 mornings a week. Is it possible that my cycles have stopped again?

It is quite unusual to have periods at all while fully breastfeeding. Having said that when I had dd I had one at 6 weeks, stopped bf at 6 months and then did not have another one until 9 months, weird eh. Ds is 8 weeks and nothing so far.

When my periods returned they took a few cycles to become regular again... I think they can take a while to settle down

I remember reading somewhere that your fertility is affected particularly by the frequency of night feeds - it's when these start to tail off that your fertility returns fully. Have you been night-feeding/expressing more recently?

perfectly normal- lots of people i know, had periods that suddenly came and then stopped again- sometimes they can go off again if babe has a bit of a growing spurt. unless you are pregnant?

DLimpet - AF stands for Auntie Flo / period.
We have only had sex about 3 times since DD and are using condoms except they do go on at the last possible minute! Also - the cats got at them, so there is a remote possibility that they punctured them .

I'm not sure about the night feeding thing - it's always so up and down - I would say persitently irregular! I have been expressing more as I said but only in the mornings.

The only thing I would say is that I have a heaviness in my womb that I had when pregnant with DD but it could be a brewing AF I suppose! It's just it's been there for about a week now.

p.s My first two AFs were 28 days apart and my cycle before I was pregnant was 28/29 days.

LOL at the cats getting at the condoms

I think their reliability might be slightly compromised

It's actually quite embarassing - the very lovely romanian lady who looked after our two cats while we were away, explained in rather broken english and by showing me etc!) that she had arrived to find them strewn all over the downstairs (possibly just empties, possibly not!)....just incase I needed to know for another time.....

The worst thing was - my friend was sitting in a room on the other end of the monitor and heard every word!!

PMSL at your cat experience - one of my cats has pica - an obsession with rubber and once attacked a boyfriend in flagrante when he was adorned with a condom.

No advice on the bfing/aunty flo thing. Mine are still absent at seven months .

OMG that is MUCH worse!!!!

Mine are so obsessed with the damn packets. They get shoved under a pillow in the heat of the moment to get them out of the way. We are invariably woken up in the middle of the night with curious paws scratching away and trying to get underneath the damn things.

We are digressing

I still have that cat and DH bought me something from Ann Summers. I discarded it after I found bite marks in the end (not mine)

In an attempt to get some serious thoughts on my dilemma, I think I will start a separate thread on rubbery incidents...!

WMMC - does your cat need counselling?? This is hilarious!! Do you own any crotchless knickers - or is that being too uncharitable towards your cat???

No crotchless panties. For fun we turn on the vibrator and watch her think she's caught a rubber mouse

I did have a cat who would favour sitting on top of whoever was on top.....as it were. She liked high places. It was dreadful - we always forgot to shut her out until it was too late.

We have two cats who like to watch as if we are a David Attenborough film. One will also get under the duvet for warmth and then lets out these godawful smelly farts. Kinda offputting to have an audience that smells like tuna.
