Hi there

I'm feeding 8 mth old ds twice a day ( morning and evening and I'm happy to continue like this indefinitely.

Only thing is, i'm not getting any younger and probably need to try for another soon.

Just how easy/difficult is it to get pregnant whilst still doing a couple of feeds a day?

thanks x

hi i got pg when just feeding twice a day, got my periods back at 8 mths when still feeding lots and then we started trying when she was 15 mths old and got pg straight away. Fed her til i was 16 wks and then stopped as it got to painful for me. She is okay about it.

Have your periods returned yet?

For me, not very, lol! I guess it varies from person to person. I had had one period but nothing regular, and was bfing twice a day.

For some people, very easy. For others, very difficult. It's hard to tell or predict. As a general rule, though, for most women if they are only doing a couple of feeds a day they are likely to resume full fertility and be able to get pregnant. But at the other extreme I know a few women who didn't even get periods back until their DCs had stopped nursing entirely.

thanks for that.

I haven't had any period at all ( doesn't surprise me as they weren't that regular and I was totally shocked when i got pregnant so quickly)

I guess it's very variable and if I still don't have a period maybe I have to stop feeding in order to try to conceive?

Hi amijee, I'm in the same boat (except DD is 10 months)...

This boat is getting crowded - ME TOO! Except I'm pretty sure I'm ovulating! I'm feeding a six month old with no periods. Hurrah for that. But I do feel hormonal/pre-menstrual once a month, but nothing comes of it (apart from yelling at DH!)

I worry that I'll not notice I'm pregnant until about month five...perhaps I should buy some folic acid!
