help! breasstfeeding, periods and the pill

hello all

i need some advice. I am breast feeding and would like to know when i can start taking the pill and when my periods should be thinking of starting up again, if not answers, then other peoples experience would be brilliant as i dont have a clue at the mo.

my LO is 11 weeks if thats any help [puzzled emoticon]

Hi wuzzle, everyones different, my periods returned a week before ds1s 1st birthday, and with ds2 they returned a few weeks afternI had the implanon in, so about 5mths (but thats not accurate as the implant caused me loads of problems).

As for the pill, your GP should talk through that with you at your post natal check. It will be the mini pill though.

...and, I think I went back on the pill with ds1 as soon as I had my PN check, so at 9wks.

My ds2 is just turning 5mths, and fully breastfed. I'm on my 3rd af. At my 6 wk check I was prescribed Noriday to take when I was ready. I've only just started taking it as sex was the last thing on my mind.

cheers garfieldsgirl. this PN check..when are they meant to do this? all ive been asked for is a smear which is booked for next tuesday

My surgery do the PN checks between 6 & 12 weeks, but again, I expect that's going to be different all over.

If your smear is with a dr, ask then about the pill.
