just wondered if any1 can help im 19 and has a ds that is 1 and still having 3 feeds a day but i have started to get shooting pains really bad any1 know what it is oh and also i will be going to bulgaria for 4 days with out him will i dry up is it a good idea to ween him 1st?

Shooting pains generally suggest thrush in your breast and possibly mastitis too. I would strongly recommend you visit your GP to get some daktarin cream, and some nystatin for your DS's mouth.

I dont think your milk supply will dry up totally if you go away for 4 days, but it could dwindle somewhat.

The main problem is that you may become painfully engorged, and risk mastitis, unless you express whilst away.

You could wean him before you go, but, if you express whilst you are away (you can do this by hand) there is no reason why you need to wean him just yet if you dont want to.

yes, definitely see a GP bogie. VVV is right - it's probably thrush or mastistis.

re the holiday - again agree with VVV that hand-expressing at least twice a day (e.g. in the morning shower and again before you go to bed) will keep up milk supply. are you alright with hand-expressing?
