when do the wind issues begin to fade?

This may sound like a silly question but does the wind thing get easier? i seems to get every last bit up but inevitable LO wakes up with wind a couple of hours after a feed - she is 4 weeks x

Yes it does get easier, about 3-4 months I think. Dd had terrible wind and hiccups, now age 6 month frequently forget to even burp her.

Is your lo minus 4weeks old!!!! Maths not my strongest point, but I am sure a 4 week old, will be 3-4 months in about 2-3 months!!!

Or is just sleep deprivation?..

windy/colic problems often resolve around age 12 weeks lubella.

my dd2 is exactly the same - she is 4 weeks too. She cries and brings up milk several times after a feed for up to 2 hours. It's exhausting. I spend the hole time with her on my shoulder and get through so many muslins every day.
It's worse when I think she is finally ok and I lay her down in her basket and let myself go to sleep- then 5 minutes later she brings up more milk and I have to change her.

no idea. Is that the bringing up of milk? My health visitor thinks it's just regular possetting. Am going to speak to her again tomorrow about it though.

Was wondering if perhaps it's something I'm eating which is making the breastmilk particularly undigestable for her (last night we had very oniony mince in a chilli sauce).

How much is she bringing up? A lot? Straight after a feed?

my ds2 is 6 months and still has some reflux, if its not gone by 8 months then hv will refer him, ds2 isnt bothered by it though and is continuously putting on weight.

sometimes it's a lot and if so she'll generally do that within about 15 mins. Mostly though it's just a lot of small amounts.

If it is a lot and within 15 mins sounds like reflux. Do you have to refeed her/change bedding/huge clean up operation afetr it?

It isn't uncommon though for babies to regularly bring up milk and not have reflux. Some just are over full. My DS1 did this till he was about 8 months. Not sure that reflus isn't being 'over diagnosed'.

Mears, actually MN is the only place I know where reflux is mentioned a lot. I realise this sounds like hair-splitting but posseting IS reflux, it is just that for the vast majority it is not a problem (i.e. no pain or weight gain issues and should of course not be treated). Where it IS a type that is problematic, especially silent reflux, it is badly underdiagnosed rather than the opposite - that was certainly our experience and it prolonged ds's misery for far longer than necessary IMO. Sorry to go on about it, but it was only through people suggesting reflux on MN that I persevered enough to get past the first paeds who brushed us off and found a specialist who turned ds overnight into a happy baby.

Just to clarify, I am not saying that a much-posseting baby automatically needs to have medical treatment...

yes agree, there is a diference between posseting and reflux.

Ds had posseting, dd had reflux, ie bringing entire feed up straight away, and sometimes doing this again and again after refeeding her. Often happened 3 or 4 times a day.

Gaviscon worked wonders, .....however when she was 2 days old and still in hospital, bought up entire feed all over her, self and bed. When asked nurse for help(had just had c section), saying dd had been sick, she just said "babies are sick-it's what babies do", and left me to sort it out!(grrrr), unhelpful . Sorry have wandered off subject a bit!
