Infant feeding

Help needed trying to get 6 month old to feed from a cup (or other).

Sorry, didn't really no what to write there.
Well, dd is 6 months old and is fully breastfed. I am a stay at home mum and dont go out (that sounds awful, by choice tho).
So up to now she has fed solely from me. However, it is my birthday next month and DH is treating me to a whole day of pampering. I would like to get dd used to taking milk from elsewhere, but dont really want to try a bottle as I have heard this can confuse her.

Any suggestions.

Thanx

Pink

My dd (now 10 months) is solely bf. She had the occasional bottle of EBM without getting confused, mainly to give me a bit of a break for 1 feed at night.
I've just bought her a Doidy cup which I'd heard was good.
She has found it much easier to use than a beaker/spout cup and I would recommend it to you.
I got mine in John Lewis for £3.50, but you'll be able to do a Google search for them in your area/mail order if you need to

Hi I found madela do a cup/bottle type of thing which is especially for breastfed babies(you can buy it from toys R Us) also the hospitals use the Nuk range to prevent breastfed babies becoming confused (these worked for me), Tesco's also do a cup for 3months plus which has a long rubber square teat great for training I'v tried them all and tesco's came up tops!

Good luck and let your hair down (I'm a stay at home mum too!) have a laugh for me

It is unlikely to confuse her at 6mths

thanx for your replies. I did try her early with a playtex cup that my friend got from america. She drank some but spat more out. And then wanted a breastfeed. Am worried that when it comes to it she wont take a cup and then gets all upset coz she is hungry.

this doidy cup, looks like just a cup with handles??? Also have a dd who is nearly 6 mo. She has so far refused a bottle ((although didn't try very hard) and I'm back to work in 3 weeks time. So keen to hear about alternatives

The doidy cup is slanted (looks v. weird) - I think so they can see the liquid and it helps them learn to drink without spouts etc.
I find it's lighter than the spouted sort - we have one of each and DS (almost 7 mths) finds it difficult to use the spouted one 'cos you have to fill it quite full for him to get liquid quick enough to realise what it's all about, but then it's too heavy.
You might have to waterproof little one before 1st trial!
