my bub is 15 weeks old and at birth wasn't latching on properly and i was given no help and terrible advice causing him to pretty much suck my nipples off! i put up with it for two weeks before collapsing with exhastion from pre pumping while trying to let my nipples heal and was forced to turn to formula, i love it think its great and a massive life saver but i feel ripped off because i had SO much milk and it was just due to crappy advice plus i had my heart set on bf. So was just wondering can i restart because i heard that some people that adopt kids do it and they obviously wern't pregnant soo...? is there something you can take? i've tried squeezing some out whilst in the shower but its all gone. should i just get over it and hopefully have better luck with no. 2 ?

Yes, you can restart your supply or start a supply that was never there to begin with, though, in the latter case for sure, it often this has to be supplemented.

Please find LOADS of advice about this on www.kellymom.com

I'm really sorry to hear that you had such bad support and advice in the early days with your baby. This is all to often the case unfortunately and a common reason as to why women give up. MW's and HV's are NOT experts in BFing, (even though they should be imho) but are all to willing to dish out substandard advice!

It's all very well saying 'breast is best', but without the support and help to establish a good feeding relationship many mother's fall by the wayside and end up feeling disappointed and cheated!

Be warned, it will take a LOT of work on your part and will be time consuming and tiring. But if you are willing to commit to it then go for it! For this to work i would suggest getting in touch with a breastfeeding counciller (via LLL or NCT etc) who can advice you face to face, as you will need support to see it through.

Good luck.
