It's definitely normal for a 3 month old to feed every 2 to 3 hours - and they have marked growth spurts too, where their appetite increases hugely.

How long has he been on hungry baby milk? what were the reasons for putting him on it?

Hes been on it for about 4 week s, health visitors adviced it as he just kept wanting milk every 2 hours and wanting 5oz at about 6 weeks

Do you know what he weighs? that's the basis of the rule of thumb - think it's 2.5oz formula per pound of body weight.

Hes 11pounds

So according to the rule of thumb, the average 11lb baby would have about 27oz of milk in 24 hours. If he's fed every 3 hours round the clock that's 8 feeds in 24 hours, 6oz every feed is 48oz.

Do you think that's what he's having? or does he have longer stretches of sleep at night that mean fewer feeds?

If he were having 6 6oz bottles that would be 36oz, and while still a lot, probably in the realm of a very hungry baby / growth spurt.

And is he fine after a feed and in between feeds, and his nappies are regular and seem normal?

If all of that is ok, it just sounds like he's a really hungry little guy. Do you have a partner you can share evening / night feeds with to get a break?

Hugs. It's so hard. If it's any consolation, I think about 10 weeks is a difficult time for a lot of parents and babies. Seems common that about three months they settle down a bit - their sleep cycles change a lot at that point, and other things can seem to iron themselves out....hang tight.

And nap in the day when he does! everyone says they do but noone does, we're all on MN Grin
