Infant feeding

Still no period...

Hi,

My DD is nearly 14 months and generally feeds morning, bedtime and once in the night. She eats well during the day.

I'm still waiting for my periods to return. My DH thinks I should go to the doctor. What do you all think? Previously I had odd cycles and have had two MCs before DD.

That's absolutely normal for breastfeeding, particularly as you are doing a night feed. Mine kicked back in after a few weeks of no night feeds. I don't think you need to go to the GP unless you have other concerns as well.

That sounds normal, mine took 12 months but dd had mostly dropped the night feeds by then

Sounds normal to me. Mine returned when DD was 13 mo and I suddenly dropped her two day feeds and stopped pumping those feeds whilst at work (keeping just breakfast and bedtime). She'd dropped night feeds 5 months earlier, so I was a bit surprised mine didn't return earlier...

I haven't had a period since November 2011! DD1 stopped bf at 13 months and stupidly I just assumed that no period meant no chance of getting pregnant again... so DD2 was born nine months later! Just be careful, but sounds perfectly normal to me :)

My periods didn't return until I completely stopped bfing dd1, even though I was giving her only one bf a day (before bed) for some time before that. I just counted myself lucky!
