I have got am almost one year old DS and am currently transitioning him to cows milk by mixing formula and cows milk. He seems to be ok with cows milk. .. I have occasionally given him a mixed bottle in the last few weeks and he drnk it with no fuss at all.
In the last few days it has been increasingly difficult to get any liquids into him. He has git better with water but still doesn't drink huge amount. When I give him a bottle he makes a few sucks and then pushes it away... he just doesn't seem to be able to sit still any more... opening and closing the door, which is what hecos currently doing, is just soooo much more interesting!
Has anybody else had that around that age? I am just worried about his fluid intake... and he is usually a real milk monster. Poos are normal, nappies not surprisingly a bit drier than normally.
How much in total should they be drinking at that age, milk and water?

DD will drink large quantities of watered down orange juice - she doesn't get it that often so sees it as a treat (I give it to her when a tooth brushing is coming up soon). Tricks my friend with a liquid refusing son has tried are food colouring, special cups (those ones with the swirly straws inside are good), ice lollies, squished up ice cubes etc. Lakeland do a simple lolly making set. Also you can give wet food such as fruit and fruit purees. DD will also drink any amount of water from various receptacles in the bath or paddling pool and from any drinks container not meant for her e.g. she will drink water from my cycling bottle purely because it's not hers!

In summary, what I am saying is make it a game and give lots of opportunities. Try not to get stressed.

At that age DS was having just one bottle of milk before bed. He would guzzle it down because he loves his milk and it's part of the bedtime routine. He'd drink water when he wanted to.

He loves trying to drink out of the glasses we use, does your DS? If he does you could try sitting him on a towel with an open top glass/cup and let him do it himself. He'll be soaked but he'll get something from it.
We had to try different cups as well because DS would only drink rom certain cups.
I remember that when he was eating he would happily take a break and have a drink, is the drink there when DS is eating?
At the moment if I want DS to have a drink I put a tiny bit of juice in, just that little bit of flavour makes him guzzle it but I try not to do it too often. Although if your DS is refusing water but happy to take juice I'd just give him it.
I do know someone who's DS won't drink water unless it's from some one else's cup.
Hope that helps.
