Baby sleeping through the night - should I get up to express?

From day 5 we have combined bottle with breast feeding. My 13 week old gets a couple of bottles in the evening as well as breastfeeding and generally sleeps from 9.30pm to 6am. She is healthy and putting weight on.

I asked the health visitor if it's ok that she's sleeping for so long. HV said yes that's fine but I might want to think about getting up to express at 12/1am to keep supply up. We've been in this routine for over a month and I love getting a full nights sleep! But obviously don't wasn't my supply to reduce. I'm not sore in the morning but do leak a little if she sleeps past 6am.

Is anyone else getting up at night just to express?

BTW - baby also gets a bottle at lunchtime but her morning feeds at BF only and I BF in afternoon & in eve before her other two bottles.

I Really wouldn't be getting up to express! They naturally drop feeds and your body needs to drop those feeds too.

At 13 weeks I would gave said your supply should be pretty much established, so I wouldn't worry if you feel comfortable. Do you want to keep mix feeding? If you do might be better to move one of the bottles to lunchtime. This will make the bottle feeds more evenly spaced throughiut the day, and ultimately when you start giving lunch in a few months time will make for a good transition to sippy cup.

Your dc may well go through a growth spurt around 4 months, so enjoy the good sleep while you can...

Blimey, there's no way I would have got up to express Grin

When my DS starting going longer at night, maybe at 13/14 weeks old, I definitely remember waking up a few mornings with rock hard, leaking breasts, but my body soon adapted and just stopped producing as much milk overnight.

Enjoy your sleep!!! Grin

I did get up to express. I used milk if baby had a bottle for any reason.

Thanks all. Can you guess what's happened? She's started waking up at 3am! Well, at least I don't need to set an alarm or worry about expressing :)
