Bleeding breast....

So I'm pretty certain my breast is bleeding when dc2 feeds. He's 5 months and this has been going on for 6 weeks at least, on and off. I have been to gp who did'nt know what it was, phone consultation with another gp who didn't know either and my hv had no thoughts either. I rang breast feeding advice line to no avail either.

It must be bleeding a lot as he has had episodes of black pooh and tonight spat up some feed and it was red. My breast hurts internally like a toothache but it had been getting easier pain wise until today. I felt like I had blocked ducts today with lumps palpable. They cleared after a feed but then he sicked up the red milk. Both dc2 and me are totally fine otherwise.

Going to go back go tomorrow but wondered if anybody had similar experience or any thoughts.

Could be something called an intraductal papilloma. It's a benign cyst that forms in your milk duct that then pops and can cause bleeding.

However 6 weeks is a long time for the bleeding to persist.

If GP doesn't know, they need to refer you to a breast clinic for an ultrasound and examination. Probably nothing to worry about but time to be bossy and push for referral.

Could it be nipple damage? My dd has often had black poos and blood in possets due to this.
