Hi. My DD is nearly 2 weeks old and was brilliant, sleeping through the night apart from feeds every 4 hours for the first ten days. However, the past 3 nights she has been very restless and agitated because of wind and won't settle till about 3am. Any tips?

Hi, jenny. How do you know it's wind?

The usual 'symptoms' of wind (legs drawn up to chin, rumblings in tummy, squirming, 'hard' tummy) are either part of being human, part of being a baby or part of showing distress at not being fed/being separated from mum.

If she settles in bed with you, on or near the breast, and able to suck as and when, then it's not wind.

Just trying to get a clearer picture

How much is dd sleepingduring the day? My dd slept loads in irst few weeks then suddenly came alive and now at 12 weeks barely sleeps more than 2 1/2 hrs in day but sleeps 7-7 with break for a feed at 10.30. It's a myth that babies sleep all the time so yours could be like mine. Encourage her to be awake in the day and then she'll settle better at might. Also encourage as much food during day as possible so not waking hungry in the night more than once.
