I just have it on one breast - very hard and painful lump. Any tips how to get rid of it? Dont understand how it happened as 4 week old dd has been feeding non stop for about 5 hours Sad

Check round your nipple for a blister/spot head/blocked pore and if you find any squeeze it out then express/feed/express in bath etc

You can try lecithin as a supplement and feeding in lots of different positions. Have a look on kellymom for more suggestions and if the lump doesn't go soon get an ultra sound, this can be used therapeutically too.

Can be a sign of tongue tie too, might be worth checking.

Agree with the above re lecithin and feeding in different positions, also Nurofen is good for getting the inflammation down and helping it drain. Good idea to apply moist heat to the area (hot shower, or hot water in a facecloth or a disposable nappy!) before feeds to help get things moving. And feed, feed, feed.

Do go to the doctor if it doesn't clear and you start to feel fluey, as that can indicate mastitis.

Ahh poor thing. I've had so many clots that I've lost count. For me the biggest thing is hot water bottles, warm showers and massaging the breast in the shower (massaging toward the nipple), constant nursing...

Good luck!
