Just wondering if changing my baby's formula would help ease reflux? He's in C&G hungry milk with infant gaviscon but it doesn't really help and drs aren't keen on giving him anything else :( he's 7mo and fully weaned but still vomitting...LOTS. Someone help us?!

you could try anti reflux milk which is thicker ? the other option is to try another gp and see if they will prescribe domperidone ( for the sickness ) ? does lo throw up milk only or food too ?

i would not use anti reflux with gaviscon tho as it might be too thick..

A baby is only fully weaned when they no longer have milk (at least only as an occasional drink). Milk should be your baby's main source of nutrition as this age. Maybe he's taking to many solids? Or the reflux is being aggravated by food allergy?

To answer your question - Aptimal stage 1 milk might be gentler on your baby's tummy. Worth buying a carton of it to try out with the Gaviscon.

I tried the anti reflux milk and it was just the same as his normal milk with the Gaviscon. I only wondered about changing he milk because a few friends have mentioned it but i was unsure. He brings food up too. I've started to notice certain foods which make him worse, like yoghurt for example. Would domperidone stop him being sick? Gp said because he's always gained weight they would be reluctant to prescribe anything else

By fully weaned i meant on 3 meals, he usually has his 3 meals plus 4 7oz bottles. I just feel like there must be something else, he's starting to notice when he's going to be sick and its horrible to see.

Could it be that dairy products are making him throw up?

If certain foods seem to make him worse then I'd ask about allergy's which could be causing the reflux. He may actually be intolerant to cows milk protein, I think it's worth looking into.

Ok thanks for the advice, going to try again with the doctors and hopefully get to the bottom of this!

My DD has reflux. Not much difference between BM and formula (she's been mix fed since 16 weeks) but I found she was more sick on C&G than Aptimil so we switched. The big difference for us though was me taking her to the GP sobbing in desperation getting her prescribed ranitidine. She's like a different baby, less sick, happier, sleeps!

Choices of meds are basically gaviscon - thickens the milk to decrease the likelihood of it coming back up or domperidone, ranitidine which reduce the amount of acid they produce in the first place. I see you've said you'll visit the GP. I reckon that's a good plan.

Hi, I've just been having the same problems. I was giving dd c&g follow on milk and she was vomiting a lot, mainly on an evening, we have changed her milk to hipp organic and are using 2 sachets of infant gaviscon in each bottle and she hasn't thrown up since, there seems to be a lot more sugar in the c&g milk when I tasted them both so that might be an issue, if you have amazon prime you can get 4 boxes of hipp organic milk for £30

MyDD was diagnosed with reflux at four weeks and prescribed dom and ran. We switched to C&G anti reflux and it did the trick. We are trying to get her switched from Dom to omeprazole because of the links with heart problems.
