Feeling down about silent reflux. Any tips on how to give Gaviscon to BF baby?

DS has silent reflux which we've thus far managed by holding him up after feeds, sleeping him at an angle etc. but the situation with night sleeping has become unsustainable and he's been prescribed Gaviscon today. He is 11 wo, but born at 34 weeks. My GP and pharmacist weren't very forthcoming about the best way to get it into him. Any tips? He took a bottle in the early days under pressure from SCBU nurses but has been EBF for a long time now. I feel very down about the whole thing. Sterilising really stresses me out - presumably I'll need to sterilise kit for mixing it up as well as the syringe/spoon?

It would need to be mixed with cooled boiled water. The box says to give it in a bottle. It is quite a lot of water. Would he cup feed? You could boil the cup (or spoon) for 5 minutes then handle with clean hands.

We only lasted 2 days on it as it gave my ds solid poos, and the associated pain.

We mixed it up then put it in a syringe (from calpol bottle) to give to bf dd. takes 2 or 3 syringes full to get the full amount into them.

Don't.

Go back and ask for Ranitidine. It is delivered by syringe so much easier than faffing about with Gaviscon. I found it made DD constipated too which just added to the hell. Have you joined the littlerefluxers social network? Lots of very knowledgable people here:
