Help! DS, 9 months old, has always been breastfed and not taken a bottle since he was four months old. He is currently teething and has a horrid cold - yesterday he was feverish but today he is grizzly and more his normal self. Last night, while feeding, he bit me twice hard on the nipple - both times I yelped quite loudly and the second time he got a fright and started crying. Since then, he hasn't breastfed (24 hours, as I am not in the UK) apart from once in the middle of the night. Each time he goes near the breast, he screams and refuses to latch.
I've given him a bit of expressed milk, which he has taken a little of, but I don't have any more to keep giving him. I've just tried him on formula for the first time, and he only took 30mls before refusing to have any more. Dr says there is nothing wrong bar usual cold/teething and to just ride it out... but how? Do I express and freeze it, keep trying with the formula, or just give him water in the hope that he will come back to the breast soon? I'd really like to continue breastfeeding if at all possible...
