did anyone not switch to follow on milk and stayed with the hungry baby milk?

My dd2 is nearly 8mo and yesterday my hv was asking about her milk and if she was on follow on yet.

I've kept her on hungry baby as in the last month or so, her sleep hasn't been great and I don't want her to stop going down on an evening as I need time to get the housework done and relax before the night time battle.

She's on 3 meals a day now and is eating well but I don't want to upset her by introducing new milk and the possible upset stomach etc.

With dd1, she went onto hungry baby at 6mo (i breastfed until then) and she stayed on that until she went onto cows milk at 12 mo.

Has anyone else done this and not switched? Is there a need to switch (better nutrients or somesuch that dd2 is missing because I'm keeping her on this milk?).

I'm so bloody confused!

You don't have to switch to follow on milk, first milk is suitable until 12 months. HV is probably confused due to the advertising.

I don't know about the merits of hungry vs follow on but I understand hungry baby milk is harder for them to digest so they get filled up on fewer calories, meaning first milk is probably better. But I don't know how the three compare.

I didn't use hungry baby but used Stage 1 until 12mo and switched to cow's milk. No need for follow on milk - its and advertising ruse.

Absolutely no need to go onto Follow On Milk. If she is eating well and is getting a balanced diet, she can stay on the same formula (whether that be hungry baby or Stage 1) until 12 months when you can switch to cow's milk. I can never understand why anybody would continue to fork out for formula past 12 months!

Thank you all, dd seems happy enough on the milk she's on and as I said in my op, I don't really want to upset the status quo we have and I need the sleep I'm getting at the moment!!

Tatty, my friends dd is on the 12 month plus milk, there's no reason she should be (i know cows milk can cause constipation in some babies and there is no lactose intolerance), she's nearly two. I cannot understand why she's not put her on cows milk yet. She is one of these people who blindly follow the advertising though! It baffles me tbh.
