Hi, the last few weeks we've started giving solid food and my lo who was a boob demon, isn't interested in bf ing anymore, I feel like she's not getting enough milk and I forcing the boob on her :-( she's an exceptionally good eater and absolutely loves food, does anyone know how much milk she should be getting at this age? I think maybe I'm over feeding solids she has 3 meals blw style but just shovels it in! I should be glas she's a good eater I know..
Today she had milk 11pm,4am, 6am(like a tiny snack), 10am,2pm,5pm,9pm
Any advice appreciated, Tia x

isn't she just a very efficient feeder at this age??

7 feeds, even quick ones, is a reasonable amoutn isn't it?

milk will reduce as her food intake rises

i have no idea what they are meant to get

my DD was feeding probably every 3 -4 hours in the day at this age, plus a dream feed and until night weaning 2/3 feeds at night as well

she was super speedy feeder

if your DD is alert, meeting milestones, having wet and dirty nappies etc and is healtthy then i wouldn't panic

She sounds like she is doing very well. I really wouldnt worry.

My DD went through stages like this. Just went with it and still happily feeding at 18mths :-)

I think it sounds fine, just keep feeding her on demand, although no harm in offering extra breastfeeds, although she may not take them.

My DD is also 6 months old but haven't started weaning properly yet. Drinking every hour during day, 2-3 hourly at night. I thought the main nutritional source should be milk until they are one? And food from 6-9 months is only to explore and get used to? Then aim for 3 meals a day by the age of one? Though I guess if it's BLW then it's up to her. But I would def try to get her to bf before meals.

I don't understand how 7 feeds is not interested anymore? That sounds like loads considering she has weaned really well.

Ok thanks, it's just I keep having to offer she doesn't seem to 'demand' very much apart from her night feeds :-(

And now she's constipated so mustn't be getting enough fluids :-(

Spekatulius she used to feed hourly in the day like you say, I thought blw you offered food when you have food and they decide what to eat, so that's what I've been doing and she loves it! I bf (or try to) 1 hour before meals, I think it's unfair to bf immediately before I as don't like to be prevented with food when I'm already full, either way I can offer bf but she'll 'demand' until I give her real food.

I guess I always wanted to feed for a long as she wanted and it feels like she'll give up before I was thinking of.

Thank you for the perspective ladies, writing it down it doesn't like she's doing too badly

Sounds like she's doing really well. My dd who's also 6 months is on 3 meals a day. She also started to sleep through the night which means she's having 5 milk feeds in total during the day. I'm actually going drop her lunchtime feed which means she will have milk at 7am, 10.30am, 5pm then 7.30pm. I'm also making sure she gets enough dairy in her meals.

I'm sure you know already but as they are taking last milk feeds and more solids they will need water. So I offer water with every meal in a sippy cup. She got a little constipated the other day so I added a little prune juice in her water (very diluted) seemed to have help get things moving !

I ended up BFing my DC's til they were 4.6 yrs and 6 years old respectively. I think a gradual reduction from 6 months might have been preferrable - but obvs I just went with what they wanted. Even then they didn't actually self-wean !
I guess they're just all different Smile
It's great your dd is enjoying her food - so many great tastes out there I don't blame her !

It is great and thank you all for the encouragement, my dd is dairy free so I think that might be contributing to my feelings on this x
