Winding advice please breastfed newborn

Hi all had my first baby on tues :)
She is feeding well and milk came through this morning.
Could anyone give me advice on winding/burping her (midwife was very vague) I'm worried About putting her down before she is properly ready as a couple of times today she had been sick lying down which is scaring me. Any way around this? I'm feeding her then winding her over shoulder or on my knee leaning her forward for about 10-15 mins then holding her for another 10 mins after to see if she is sick- am I doing anything wrong?

Your little one is probably just spewing because you have too much milk right now and she can't cope with it just yet. It will all settle down soon and don't worry, they have an instinct to turn their heads when vomiting so as not to choke.

Sounds like you're doing fine wishful. Varies baby to baby - one of my DTs doesn't need winding at all and the other tends to spew even after being winded for a long time. As vdirect says they are pretty good a turning their heads when they do this so won't choke. My MW advised me to keep sicky DT upright after feeds for 1/2 hour in bouncy chair or holding as with him it seems to be mild reflux. As vdirect says yours may settle down when flow adjusts. Good luck and keep a lot of muslins handy (I always stick one under their heads when lying them down).

When he was little(r) feeding ds took about an hour to feed. 10 mins actually feeding and then 45 mins waiting for the air to come out with patting, bit of jiggling, sitting up, leg stretches if it had turned into gas. Now at 5 months he basically burps himself.

I echo what vdirect said. Your dd is probably just getting used to the flow of your milk.

My midwife told me that although it seems wrong it's ok for a baby to lie on it's back and throw up. Apparently a healthy baby will turn it's head to the side.
