Advice on getting 7mo to take formula please.

Supposed to be going away next month for one night for my 30th birthday celebration, have had to delay for two years due to pregnancies! I am so looking forward to a night off.

However DC4 will not drink formula despite months of trying and all types of formula tried. He will take EBM from a cup or bottle but I am finding expressing really hard and only get 2-3 oz at a time so not sure I can get enough to cover all his feeds.
My other 3 DC have all been fine with the odd bottle of formula so this is new to me.

TIA

Mine never liked bottles till they stopped BF-ing; but I would say that if baby is hungry while you're out eventually the bottle will be accepted I'd imagine.
Enjoy your night. Hope someone else can be more helpful!

Thanks for replying bringmeroses, however DH has looked after him while I was getting my hair done and DS just refused the milk and screamed until I got back.

Have you tried giving the formula at different temperatures i.e. warm/room temp?

My ds will only drink a couple of ounces of ebm from a bottle so I'm really not the one to help but, for what it's worth, he eventually took that from a MAM bottle whilst sitting in his bouncy chair. Weirdly I find distracting him works best so I have tv/radio on and let him make a bloody mess play with it as much as he likes.

Interested to see other replies as I've got two weddings next year which will involve leaving ds overnight.

Tried everything Mogwai warm, cold and room temperature.
It's definitely not the bottles, he will have water/EBM from any bottle or cup. He just doesn't like the taste of formula, he has a good suck and then gags and turns away, if you try him again he screams.

What about trying soy or goats milk formula? Maybe it's the taste - soy especially is quite sweet.

Or depending on age of DC4, DH could offer food with water if you are weaning. Hope you enjoy your 30th.

Haven't tried those bringmeroses, thanks for the suggestion.

He does eat food so he won't starve, I just want to go away and enjoy myself rather than be worried about him the whole time.

Can you do a mixture of EBM and formula (really warm so you dont get the taste much)? That's what I did for DS1 and DS2 to gradually ease them onto formula

Perhaps try a different make of formula? Both my children (mainly breastfed) had a real preference for one type over others - to the extent that they would refuse bottles made up with another brand (bought in despearation one evening when normal one wasn't available - had to throw nearly unused can out - grrr). For us, Hipps Organic worked.

I never thought of mixing dinkystinky, might try that.

Have tried loads of brands keely, thank goodness for readymade cartons or I would've wasted loads too.
