Infant feeding

How can I keep up supply while away

I am going skiing for 4 nights with DH in January - all alone, just the two of us , yay Grin Grin - and I am still feeding DD once a day in the morning (she will be 14.5 months when we go).

I will be away from her for 4 mornings and I don't think I will become engorged but I don't want my milk supply to dry up.

Will this happen? If so, any advice about the best thing to do?

Thanks!

I think the best option is to "pump and dump" if you can arrange this once a day.
doesn't even have to be one long morning session, you could do 10 mins on each breast twice a day.

as you are not keeping the milk no need to sterilize, just clean quickly.

yes it will be sad to throw lovely breast milk away, but you'd do this anyway if drinking alcohol or having to take certain medicines so no biggie.

what do you think?

if you do nothing the milk should not dry up in 4 days, but you might feel fuller.

I stopped bf my DS2 when he was 8 months - 6 weeks later I still had some milk and could have restarted bf!

Thanks both, I think I'll try to express a little in the shower each morning then. It's reassuring that you think it'll be fine! :)

oh yes, should be fine - and I'm saying this despite being green with envy that you are going skiing!Smile
