Aha ive found it...

Evening ladies, hope everyone gets lots of sleep tonight

goat I got a yummy chocolate cake and chocolate dodgers yum. Try not to be too upset about giving formula like you said the most important thing is that it's right for you and kid Smile 3 1/2 months is something to be proud of!!

That's great news evil that you've found something that helps

Aw Sad mrsn I think bottles do give babies more wind, I hope your LO settles soon, I find lying my LO across my legs on her belly helps with her wind? It is so upsetting for us to see too

DP has gone out tonight for the first time since LO was born so I didn't get to go to bed at 8 Sad babyN normally likes to be wide awake and grumpy between 8-12 but has even very good tonight but now seems wide awake so I hve everything crossed that this isn't a delayed grumpy time. I'm praying for a better night tonight compared to last night

Ooh found you, well done heff for valiantly leading us into the uncharted territory of Number Four!

I'm afraid I will be here a while longer, marbles as Kid seems to have missed the memo that says he can sleep better now he is on formula...

Hope your bottle forays are improving funch - we never had a problem as Kid will suck on anything 24/7. In fact he won't not suck... Hmm

mrsn sorry to hear that mil is winding you up. I have one family member like that and if am not careful i can stew for days! In the immortal words of the Madagascar penguins, 'Just smile and wave, boys, just smile and wave!'

Heff enjoy the new car! No excuse not go to Langley Park and have that hot choc now Wink

evil so glad you have found a solution there! Hope it's helping with your sleep!

Sorry to anyone not name checked... My addled brain is not clever enough to go between freds.

Up again....just in time for the new Fred! Babyfunch so much more awake when she wakes herself rather than me waking her according to a timetable - good job I am not trying Gina Ford methods! Actually I was lent her book so am going to look up her routine for a baby of 5 weeks and see what she reckons our routine should be at this point then weep at the chaos I am living with

Good luck for the night everyone!

Marking spot and bringing virtual peanut butter squares and fruit cake. (I'll be making the real deal tomorrow, I think Smile)

I write some very self-indulgent, off-lossy posts sometimes. That's at I love this thread - you know you're not the only one.

Knew I'd be here at midnight or so; hope my other predictions were not trueHmm See you all in about 4 hours? I reckon it will be cluster to 2...

Arrrgg, still up! every time I think she's fast asleep, floppy arm & everything, her little eyes ping open again and were back to square one. I'm cold and there's a lovely warm duvet on my bed upstairs that I want to be snuggled in :(

goat I think you're right, lets make it our next cake chat venue :)

marbles my need to snack was being kept nicely under control until you mentioned peanut butter squares!

How are we all tonight?

Instead of my usual rambling I though I'd ask... What is everyone wanting for Christmas? (of course we all want more sleep but what gift would you like?) Smile

Yes marbles those peanut butter squares sound amazing!

Question for prem mums - sorry! Were/are your babies loud sleepers? Now that Kid is sleeping beside me, his vocal range is extraordinary! I keep leaping awake and checking him. Knowing the difference between a please-feed-me and an I-am-still-asleep is tricky!

And as you can see I too use this thread to offload... When I was at the PILs and couldn't gt internet in the middle of the night I was like this Shock

Hello ladies! Well party went very well - crazy with 18 3 year olds running round but DD loved it! My eyes feel a bit better today thank goodness & are just bloodshot n not swollen so think people just thought I was knackered which I am!!!
Heff - what car did you get? I wish we had a bigger one!!
Mrs n - if DS gets all stressed now n I can't do anything I just take him out in car, it always works!!
Goat - def don't feel bad about not bf - what you've done is amazing, lots of people don't even give it a go at all!

We have my brother, SIL and 2 kids staying, which I have to say is a bit hectic plus their DD has really bad cough! We are all going to pizza express Tomo as is DD's actual bday then once they've gone we are going to have a few hours just us n let her open her presents (she has millions!!) can't believe this time 3 years ago I was in labour!! She was very sweet at play centre n kept coming out to see her brother!!

Hope everyone is getting some shut eye! We appear to be on 2 hourly feeds as usual! Hoping all the kids don't surface at 5am!!
Xxx

amey glad the party went well. So cute that your DD came out of the play centre to see her little bro!

heff I am cold too! Want my duvet....

Glad no one minds me waffling on...this thread really is a lifesaver.

I looked at Gina Ford and apparently we should at 5 weeks be feeding at 7am, 10am, 2pm, 5.15pm,6.30pm, 10pm and once overnight. Er, right. And each feed should be 20mins on one boob plus up to 15mins on the other. So basically fewer feeds but bigger. I would love that but just cannot see how you make a baby feed for longer...babyfunch is asleep by about 10mins on first boob during the night!

I am guessing from the fact we are all on this thread that we are all non-Gina mums but does anyone have any tips for getting more milk into a sleepy LO?

Hello all, hope you don't mind me joining. DS2 aged 4 weeks is chomping away, chuffed he went from 8:30 to 01:45, just praying now that he will go back to sleep!!

Goat - DS2 is not prem, but vies with farm yard animals on the noise front, particularly between 2 and 5. He snuffles for truffles, grunts and strains - all with eyes shut and supposedly asleep! DH has moved into spare room for respite sleep he's so noisy!

Report
Twobuttonsaway · 11/11/2012 02:50

Funch - I also suffer with 10 mins then asleep night feeds. If he takes more it often comes straight back up anyway. I figure there is more volume/faster flow at night so probably equiv to more anyway.

I did use Gina feed timings as a routine guide with DS1 from about 6 weeks but he was mix feed in bottles. DS2 is 4 weeks and EBF so very doubtful will manage Gina timings with him without screwing up supply, so going with the flow for now!

Second feed of the night here, thankfully we went 2 hours which after lasts nights up every hour feels quite good. I've stayed downstairs and slept on the sofa tonight, I can't settle when it's just me in bed and I'm sleeping quite well so fingers crossed for quick feed, napoy change and settle so I can catch some more Zzzzz's

funch if my DD has had enough milk then that is it and there is borin I can do to make her have more, I she starts nodding off I tickle her feet, gentler blow on her face, touch her jaw ect... But once she's done that's it her little lips lock together

Welcome buttons Smile

Wowzers!! 3 1/2 hours! That's not too bad, all things considered. Much better than the last couple of nights. Another 3 1/2 would take us to 6.45; that would be ok.

Sorry not to name check. Sooo sleepy tonight. Going for transfer...

Ooooh found you all, had a mini panic for a second.
Welcome buttons
I looked at gina ford too, baby small should be sleeping through by now apparently! As we were up at 7 today I tried to stick to her timings but we'd failed by 7.30!! I don't think it's for us.
Christmas mummyv, I love Christmas and normally want a million things! Unfortunately though this year I can't think of anything and haven't been able to get to the shops to have a look. I did see a cashmere dressing gown which looked rathe cosy for night feeds but £700 was a bit pricy! I think if I had a spare £700 I'd go on holiday instead! As long as DH gets me something frivolous and indulgent I don't mind really.

I'm up and feeding. Baby buzzy being incredibly fussy tho and screaming the house down. I've ended up in tears as he wouldnt latch on but needed to feed. I got a few hours sleep between midnight a.d 2.3/am but only CIS DH stayed up with him.

Quick question, what do you guys all do ib baby is awake after a night feed?! Di you stay awake til they sleep?!?

2nd feed of the night and I'm ravenous!!! Peanut butter squares sound awesome at the moment and I could eat at least ten.

Welcome two and waves to everyone else, glad things are going well for you evil and goat like everyone else said 3.5 months bf is amazing.

Babyloo really unsettled after his last feed so hoping he will take pity on me and go straight back to sleep,

I read gina ford when I was pregnant and kept looking at her schedules but not sure she is compatable with bf, when babyloo was little he would feed every two hours or more often on some days, I tried to look at her nap schedule but that didn't suit us either, I'm just grateful if I can get babyloo to have a nap at all!!

He seems sleepy so hoping for easy transfer, hope your asleep marbles

izzy I am just dealing with babyfunch being awake after a night feed for the first time in a while. I have fed her lots and she has finally fallen asleep in my arms so will attempt transfer in a minute. I put her in her basket awake but she started yelling. I have no idea how to teach her to self settle!

Re Christmas, I would like clothes. My mum is getting me a gilet/bodywarmer. DH and I have said we will skip presents for each other this year as we have spent so much on babyfunch but may find she has bought him something little on the day :)
My stepmum is taking me girly shopping for my present which will be fun. Our family all LOVE TKMaxx so may well involve a trip there!

It's hard to know what to do funch my little one is only 11days old so all new even tho I have a DD. I would love to pop him down and sleep but I'm not comfy with that idea.

I've brought sleeping bag down again so I can camp beside him and not annoy DH AND DD

Huh, typical - Kid is sleeping beautifully and I am awake with a gyppy tummy. Sad

Hello buttons - I like the snuffle for truffle description!

Gina Ford Should have been shut in a room with our lot, I think!

Christmas... I am running out of ideas of nice, light things to send home, so that the postage does not cost more than the gift! For me, I have a terrible hankering for Lakeland stuff. Blush is this a sign of my age or my mummyness?

izzy I have been known to go to sleep while Kid is awake - a few nights ago when I was seriously sleep deprived, I decided it was safer to let him grizzle in his basket than for me to be so exhausted that I might stop him when picking him up, or some such. So I slept for an hour. I think he grumped at me the whole time!
