BOOK CLUB IS BACK: vote for October's book of the month

(28 Posts)
Bookclub is not just back, it is back with a bang. Six Booker prize contenders are waiting for your vote. Even better, this year?s shortlist is the most accessible and least grisly for years. Yes, it was a travesty that Cheeta: My Story failed to make the shortlist. But overlooking that one blip, the 2009 Booker promises to be a very exciting race.

You can find out more about the books here and then vote for your choice.

The poll closes on Monday 28 September at midnight.

And if you're new to Book Club, find out how to join in.
Little Stranger has just arrived from Amazon. I'll start it the minute I finish this godawful Dan Brown book my DH has brought home.

I'm just about to put a request in for this month's book at the local library. Bit disappointed it wasn't Wolf Hall, but hey hum..I'm sure the Sarah Waters one will be worth it too!
I'd love to join the book club too [pops off to library website to blag a copy]

hi would love to join you all x
And the result is... The Little Stranger nailed it, with just 2 votes more than Wolf Hall.

We'll meet up on here to discuss on Tue 20 October, 8pm to 9.30pm - hope you can all make it.

I'll do my best to get an author chat/Q&A, will keep you posted.
The Little Stranger is currently just 4 votes ahead of Wolf Hall...and we have 11 hours left till the poll closes. Time to get your friends to exercise their voting muscle.

We'll announce the winner tomorrow morning.

Pleeeease let it be The Little Stranger - I'm new to this book group and I've already bought it in anticipation. But I think it's a good Booker shortlist this year and I'd happily read them all.

I've voted for Wolf Hall although it looks as though it's going to be The Little Stranger. Will wait and see....

Links The simplest way to insert a link is to enter the link itself, surrounded by [[ and ]]. So if you type [[www.mumsnet.com]], the link will display as http://www.mumsnet.com. If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
