Never ask a child IF they need the loo... moodlum

Quote of the week

CaptainNancy's (admirably succinct) family rules: "Don't be a dingbat/duffer. Keep calm and carry on. Dream big. Shut up and get on with it."

Recipe of the week

Carmenere's cinder toffee: sweet, sticky, made-in-five-minutes toffee squares that'll spark off a few 'yums' among the 'oohs' and 'aahs' of your little fireworks-watchers.

BOOK OF THE MONTH - vote for November's choice here

(13 Posts)
Thank you, wasn't planning on much just when going out and about which won't be often.
FiveGoMad, will ask the sisters once they off the phone (engaged line all evening, prob discussing swimwear)- reckon they are taking credit cards mainly and will get cash out when there?
Case closed. Kate Atkinson is our clear winner with CASE HISTORIES.

Can't wait to re-read this, the plot is excellent and Atkinson one of my favourite writers.

We'll gather in the library for the grand showdown on Tuesday 25 November.
Tilly - cheeky question, what currency are your sisters taking, dollars, sterling or local.

Please please vote for raymond chandler, although I do have to concede that Kate Atkinson's novel is a great read {but I've read it]
Atkinson still leagues ahead, don't forget to cast your vote before tomorrow evening. Poll closes at 8pm when we'll announce the winner.
We currently have an overwhelming lead for Kate Atkinson - she has four times as many votes as any one else. If you haven't had your say, don't forget to vote before Tuesday's close...
Hooray for Arthur Conan Doyle grin
Both my sisters off to Antigua too. Am trying desperately not to think about it. Have a gorgeous time...(and tell us what you read on holiday that was good so can nab it for a future bookclub..)
Gosh you are on the ball Tilly, however will have to sort out the time dofference between here and Antigua to join in the discussion 9trying not to be to mug but god I need a holiday).

If you want your link to display text other than the web address itself, leave a space after the address then add the text before the ]]. So "Look at [[www.mumsnet.com this page]]", would display "Look at this page".
