Help! How do you go on holiday with babies (and toddlers?!)

Evening all,
The husband and I are currently trying to apply for tickets for next years commonwealth games in Glasgow. We live in the NW so we will need to get an apartment or similar in Glasgow for the duration.
The problem is this, we would like to go to some evening sessions but don't know anyone that could sit for the kids to allow us to go... I have never used an agency (though I used to work through one) and don't particularly want to just dump the girls with a new face 10 minutes before we head out for the evening. Have you ever had a problem like this? How did you get round it? Any advice and suggestions gratefully received.
Please don't say leave them at home as I would like to explore the city with them and experience the festival atmosphere as a family during the days... HELP...
By July next year they will be 2yrs 10months and 18months.
PS- applications for tickets close tomorrow at 6pm so it is urgent!

Thanks so much,
Muma Leary.

You say you don't want to leave them at home so presumably you have someone available who could look after them, a parent or a sibling? Could that person go with you? Then they could mind the children if you got evening tickets.

I agree it would be lovely to have them with you, but unless they are used to being looked after by strangers, you may end up with a distressed toddler and be unable to go out anyway! Totally depends on your child.

Hope you find a solution.
