Buttons - where to start

I think I need to have a 'button' of my own for people to be able to use / as a brand/easy recognisable way of showing me etc.

So - how did you go about designing yours and how do you set the script so others can use it. I use blogspot at the mo - and am hoping it's fairly straightforward.....?!
