DD has started blogging and has a clear idea how she wants her blog to look God help me

She wants the dynamic view template, with the background as she has it here HotCrossBrezel

Any ideas?

The issue I am having is that I can activate the dynamic view template, and choose that background image, but when I click to activate on blog, it just doesn't work.

I also can't change the header, or even the size of the header text.

I might just move her over to WP. Thought I would try Blogger since it would be easier for her. Meh.

TA-DAAAAAA!!

Hiya Grin

Yes, it's totally possible to get that on dynamic views.

Dashboard > Template > scroll down slightly and pick one of the Dynamic views.

The widgets in the sidebar may shift around slightly but you can add and remove basic ones back on the Dashboard > Layout section. They will appear in a slide-out on the right hand side.

Posting and updating and scheduling is done in exactly the same way. The only thing I'd recommend is to keep your Post Titles short so they don't overlap and if you use one of the photo-heavy layouts to make sure there's an image in each post or it won't display on the front page.

Dynamic views are fab to display content in unusual ways. I'd say it's the closest step that Blogger has made towards interesting layouts in a long time. I've used them for my www.askablogger.co.uk website (my Cybher presentation).

Hope that helps - just yell if you've got any additional questions.

LOL at taa daaaah. You are never goign to forgive us for that, are you?

I tried that though, added the dynamic view, but when I try to add the background, it won't update.

Oh, you can't have the background - the dynamic view will always over-ride that.

Bum - I missed that crucial part of the OP - sorry.
The only other way to do it is to import a template which, IMHO, for a tween blogger is way more trouble than it's worth.

Meh. SEE. This is why I prefer WP.

Blogger must be losing people by not allowing them to personalise their blogs as easily as WP.

Thanks, will have a wee think about it.

Dynamic views was created to increase loading time and make it easier on the eye. Having that type of template is much kinder on your reader's download time. Is the background a crucial part of the blog?

She is a mini artist, so yes. But I will speak to her about it. Maybe we can go with the dynamic view with a plain background.
