Hi everyone,

I have found blogging to be very theraputic so far but everytime I write a post, I want to delete it! does anyone else feel like this, or is it just me?

Oh I have hundreds of posts in draft that I've never published because I think they are just too boring!

It's a risk when you are putting yourself out there. Something for you to consider in your content. If you are exposing a lot of yourself or your family you might be making yourself vulnerable (I mean to written attack or criticism nothing more nefarious). You have to ask yourself how you might feel if that happened. I'm not saying by writing a blog you are asking for bad things to happen, but by airing your opinions so openly you invite comment, good and bad.

Sorry, not sure that was the sort of answer you were expecting. But it is always good to be aware of the realities of living life online.

I started my blog because I was asked to write for the Keep Britain Breastfeeding Scavenger Hunt. I wrote some very personal posts which I struggled to publish as not only am I not a writer, my spelling and punctuation is appalling but I was also worried what friends and family would think when reading my posts. I've had such positive comments that it has made it all worth while and yes it is very therapeutic.

Thanks for the replies:) I guess by writing such personal posts, I am exposing myself to positive and negative responses:)

@dillytante, no, I really appreciate your reply :) I want to write what I want as opposed to what is expected...

Oh, Undercover Mummy, I don't think your posts will ever be boring! You are doing a fabulous job recording your thoughts and experiences and I'm sure your honesty and sheer guts will be helping others in a similar position, as well as being valuable therapy for yourself. Maybe one of the reasons you feel like deleting them is that by setting them down on paper/computer screen you are acknowledging that what's happening to you is real - and it would be much easier to deny them by wiping them off. But please don't it, it is compelling reading, really well written, and I really hope it's helping you get through your really difficult circumstances.

If you get any unpleasant comments, I'm sure you can rise above them - and a good way to keep these under control is to set your blog up so that no comments will go live until you've seen/approved/edited them. (Always good practice anyway, with any blog, because it prevents daft spam messages spoiling your beautiful blog!)

Please keep going with it. It's fab. And in hope of encouraging you, I'm adding you to my blogroll by way of a tribute - you'll find yourself in the footer of //www.youngbyname.me. Take care x

Undercover Mummy - I think your posts are great - very interesting.
BTW someone on here has just called my blog "shite" but you just have to rise above it like YoungDebbie says. I don't think any blogs are rubbish really as its always interesting to read about others lives and opinions.

Keep going Undercover Mummy, I'm looking forward to the next installment!!

Someone on here said that about your blog Hertsmummy?

Hi Dilly

It was a mumsnetter but I don't think they are a blogger or on the bloggers network and they posted in on one of my posts on this forum. I reported it to Mumsnet and they have been lovely and deleted it.
If I'm being honest though it has knocked my confidence a bit. Luckily all the bloggers I have met on here have been great so I'm not going to let it stop me!

@hertfordshiremummy - what a horrible thing for them to say. I'm glad Mumsnet deleted the post. Sometimes people out there can be strange. Chin up and keep going! We believe in you!
