Adding a note to PR, commissions etc.

I notice some bloggers put a section on their blogs with a note to PR people or people looking to commission some writing etc. The reserved part of me thinks "oo, how self promoting" but I do wonder if it actually does encourage commissions for reviews and writing pieces. If you don't have anything on there, is it less likely anyone would consider you for any paid work?

Thoughts?

I ummed and ahhh'd about doing it. But then someone pointed out to me that unless you do have it, PR's assume you won't do it - and it has brought some work my way. Equally I have turned work down as it just didn't fit with the blog.

I found it very uncomfortable to write to be honest. But it's done what it needed to, for me.

I was looking at yours actually. Maybe I will put something on mine. Just don't want anyone reading it and thinking "As if!"

I don't have one but have had a few pr requests via email. But any of the requests I've turned down as they had no real relevance to me. Maybe it would be a good idea to have a section on this, a disclosure policy I think they call it.

Your blog is fab Dilly - do it. And if nothing happens, nothing happens. I have found it useful too when people go 'oh you just do that for fun' and then you explain some of the stuff which has come your way because of it - it makes them believe in it more.

Just copy what I put if you want - I cobbled it together after reading other people's!

PS My other blog - which I don't promote on here because it's a business one IYSWIM - is linked to my company, and part of my business is copywriting, hence the comment about writing on mine, so I can link it back if I need to.

If that makes sense! I just wanted to close the loop.
