Amy Louise was born on 7th October weighing in at 5lb 12oz (3weeks early)

My water's broke at approx 12.30am on Tuesday 7th October, put on a pad but could wring in out within a couple of minutes!
Phoned the hospital and was told it was best to come in straight away rather than waiting until the morning as they were aware I had previously been tested + for strep B. I then rang a friend who had promised to drive me to the hospital and was very apologetic with waking her at such an awlful time. I arrived at the hospital at approx 1.30am and didn't have any contractions, I was told that I would definately be having my baby that day & if the contractions didn't start that they would induce me using a drip. My contractions slowly started at approx
3.00am and I was given my first dose of anti-biotics for the strep B at around the same time. I then paced back and forth for the next 2 hours feeling vey tired but desperate to speed the contractions up. I was examined at approx 3.30-4.00amm and was told that I was only 3cm dilated. The contractions increased and became very painful by approx 5.00am and I found that I could no longer bear to move around. I was put on a monitor to see how the baby was coping with it all. The MW examined me and told me that I was still only 3cm dilated and that she couldn't understand why the graph was showing such intense contractions but they were not dilating me. I could no longer bear the pain and begged for an epidural, I was given my 2nd dose of anti-biotics at 7.00am and was told that I could have an epidural as I would need to be induced, I was also told that the MW's would not examine me again in case o inection, and that the consultant would examine me asap. I was given an epidural at approx 8.10am and the consultant examined me at approx 8.20am he tried to turn the baby but she wouldn't budge(she was lying back to back) he told me that the good news was that I was already 10cm dilated! I was then told that I could have a rest for an hour or so before I had to push, when the epidural worked it was pure heaven (It took approx 25 mins for no pain to be felt) The MW asked me to start pushing at 10.15am, it was really weird pushing without feeling contactions, Amy was born at 10.29am I had a small tear that didn't need stitches and couldn't believe that I had given birth without any pain. I wish I had been given the epidural earlier when the pain was unbearable, still, at least they gave it to me this time!
