need to loose 1.5 to 2 stone need support and nagging!

(89 Posts)

Hi, I really need to / want to loose at least 1.5 stone, I'm currently about 11.5 ( as in half) , a size 14 (but do struggle with some size 14 jeans) and was about 9 stone when I meet dh in 2006. I do realise after having DT's I will never be 9 stone again or the lovely size 8/10, but would love to get to 10 stone and a size 12.

I don't need to join a diet club as such as I know exactly what to avoid and to watch my portion sizes. I just need some motivation and people to keep on at me. Motivation : a friends wedding in 8 weeks and a summer holiday in Spain (with skinny sister, mother and niece!!!!). I also need to start exercising again. I ran a 10k about 18 months ago and used to enjoy exercise, but have been suffering with ptsd which came out in June last year, so have struggled to find any energy! But am now feeling better so hopefully.......Also have started smoking again after almost 4 years !!!! which I need someone to help me kick myself up the arse about.

Does anyone fancy joining me on possible comparing what we have eaten and exercise and weight loss etc?

Sorry for long post! Hope to hear from some of you!

Hi, I'm trying to loose 1-1.5 stone.

I started at the end of Jan at 11stone 2lb and a size 12-14.

I've started to use my cross trainer for 10 mins every morning followed by 1st level of 30 day shred.

Food wise, I've cut out all sweets/chocolate/bread and am currently having a late breakfast and early dinner thereby cutting lunch out.

I've lost 6lb up to now and my 'bloated' tummy look has gone (think thats due to cutting bread out).

wow well done! I'm going to start tomorrow, with exercise and less wine! AM also going to walk the dt's to school everyday its dry.

I don't know what I need to lose in weight, but I need to reduce from a size 16/18 to size 14. I also want to build some muscle, but focusing on weight loss, first.

I started the 30 Day Shred today. Eight hours later, my quads and knees are sore, but will be limbering up for another session tomorrow.

Food wise, I've started swapping potatoes/pasta/rice for pulses in evening meals. Two days a week are to be meat-free. I've put a complete stop to ready meals, even the fancy Bigham/ M&S Cook ones. All sugary puddings getting swapped for fruity puddings. No empty calories!

Signed up for Fitness Pal, although not loving that so far. The food diary doesn't allow you to record sugar or to specify your intake of saturated fat. Any suggestions for an online food diary that will do this?

My first goal is to get back to a 'pure' size 16 by the end of this month. Reward for this will be a new tote/satchel.

Sorry about the smoking relapse OP, especially after 4 years smokefree. What made you stop last time, i.e. what was the moment, when you thought, 'right, that is IT'?

Hi can I join. I need to lose about a stone. Have been trying on and off but now need to get strict with myself. I have done it in the past with weightwatchers and slimming world. Would rather this time just do it by healthy eating and my fitness pal. Good luck everyone

Hello - can I join? Bit like you nothingbyhalves, I am 11.7 right now, but need to get back to 9.13, which is what I was 2 years ago after a year of weightwatchers. I have never been this heavy. I started just today and am already hungry and grumpy. I finish a college course on May 15 and want to be at goal to graduate. Good luck everyone - and step away from the crisps.

We can do it!

By cutting out bread I've also cut out butter and spread (no sandwiches, no toast etc), and we haven't bought cheese this week.

Am quite liking my porridge for breakfast with an apple chopped up in it.

MrsBertMacklin Sun 17-Feb-13 20:53:42

yuleheart are you doing 30 day shred literally every day, or do you take rest days?

yuleheart Sun 17-Feb-13 22:18:30

I've done it 5 out of 7 this week.

(it helps I work from home smile )

How's everyone doing? I am hungry but will be happy when I weigh in Saturday morning.

yuleheart Wed 20-Feb-13 12:55:44

Hungry here also!

Went to hospital appt last week, got told 'you've lost weight' so its official!!!

We've been having homemade veg soup and ratatouille (all veg hardly any calories).

On the downside - went to Costco this week and they have the most gorgeous baklava - we're rationing ourselves to three pieces each a day until its gone.

week hasn't gone as planned for me, 1/2 term, but been working all week, plus dealing with dt's who have been told by dentist they can't have any sugar due to a calcium problem with their back teeth, so they have been challenging as they are only 3 and don't really understand why chocolate and biscuits are off limits! Haven't made it to the gym at all! However there are 2 other mums from the school run who have suggested we all go to the gym whilst dc are in school so will start that next week.

Upside of no sweets in the house however is I seem to have lost 2 pounds!

MrsBertMacklin, I gave up last time when I discovered I was pregnant. Have suggested to DH to have another but he has pointed out smoking is cheaper!!! Joke! once I start in the gym next week I will go for it. My best friend has given up this week so there is some motivation there.

Good luck all
xxx

I'll join! I'm 11st 8 and want to get to at least 10st6 as then I'll be back at a healthy BMI but, ideally, want to get to 10st. Getting to 10st would be amazing as I haven't been that weight for 10 years.
DS turns 9mo tomorrow. I weighed 13st13 a week after I gave birth so have lost 33lbs but am really cross with myself as I'd lost that much by 1st Dec and then put on 10lbs over Xmas/NY and, whilst I've lost that, I don't seem to be able to lose any more and just seem to be have this massive tyre around my waist and feel really bloated.
I started again today and have been pretty good (lunch out but checked calorie content before I went) and got my exercise bike out for the first time in months (we've had building work so it was impossible to get to) and did 20 minutes. I'm also going to get out the Shred which I bought months ago but have never opened.
Goals are 11st4 by Mother's Day, 11st by Easter, 10st10 by April 21 & 10st 6 by mid May for DS' first birthday. Then 10st by August for our summer holiday.
I will need a lot of nagging!

I'd like to join smile
Currently I'm 11st 4 and would like to be 9 1/2. Am 40 in May - I will not be fat and forty!!

yuleheart Thu 21-Feb-13 11:04:29

I've got three weddings this year.

I've bought a fitted dress in a size 12 for the one in June, a fitted dress in a size 10 for the one in Aug hmm and having one made for the wedding in Sept (which hopefully will also be a 10).

cakeaddict Thu 21-Feb-13 11:59:10

Can I join? Want to lose just over half a stone. Am 11st 2 and would like to be 10 and a half... although it doesn't sound too much to lose my willpower is atrocious and when I tried before xmas (using MyFitnessPal) nothing happened very quickly and I got demoralised.

stclair Thu 21-Feb-13 17:15:52

Gosh, I need kicking up the botty too. I would like to lose 1.5st and have lost 7kg so far (am better working in kg) but am putting it back on again as am snacking again and am really annoyed at myself. I have a gym membership but hardly ever get there, and a Shred dvd which I do in fits and starts!

Last night we had an indian takeaway, but rather than my usual balti with nan bread, rice and chips (loads I know, but sooooo yummy) I had dry tandori king prawn and just a desert spoon of DH's rice, a tiny bit of his nan and 3 chips. Was lovely! Will make it my indian of choice from now on, as I didn't feel horribly sleepy and full after at all! Have also taken to having rice cake and a banana for breakfast rather than my usual fruit toast.

Come on all we can do it!!!

MrsBertMacklin Thu 21-Feb-13 19:05:57

Session 4 of 30 Day Shred done. I'm intending to increase the intensity from tomorrow: I feel pumped after the workout and my muscles are feeling the benefit. But I'm not really sweating. I do need a rest day in between sessions though, my quads are killing the next day.

Not doing great on the food front. Beans and lentils are so tasty, really glad I've made the change to these from potatoes and rice. Also glad about my 2 meat-free days (it's been nice to have a reason to vary my meals). Portion sizes for main meals are reduced, but I am really struggling to stay away from sugar/treats.

Murtette Thu 21-Feb-13 20:14:45

A good day today. I ate wisely (although I had a jacket potato in a cafe at lunchtime and the cook must have slathered it in butter as it was delicious), have drunk loads of water and am going to jump on my exercise bike at 9pm. I did 20 mins last night and haven't ached much today so think I'll try 30 mins tonight. I have the Shred DVD but am too scared to actually take the cellophane off and put it in the DVD player! Anyone care to inspire me?

MrsBertMacklin Thu 21-Feb-13 20:24:07

Murtette, I'm on my fifth session of 30DS and I really like it. 2 minute bursts of strength, cardio and abs, i.e. circuit training, the 20 minutes whizzes by.

Woop woop! Lost 3.5 ponds last week without really trying! When I get paid on Thursday I'm going to invest on 30 day shed to spur me on too! Planning to persuade dh to do bedtime story do I can do it before tea each evening!

OK peeps! Need advice! Thinking about investing in 30 day shred. What do I need buy etc, I have decided to knock the fags on the head as from monday (coming) and then have a month till a wedding. want to hit 10 stone 10 pounds by then, I'm 11.3 now. please motivate me!!! and give me success stories etc

was also thinking shall we have a set day of the week we share our success of the previous week?

ps I'm a teacher... can you tell......?
