Grandad had a stroke 2 weeks ago, i went to see him a couple of times as hospital was 60 miles away.
This evening my cousin phoned to say Grandad had taken a turn for the worst and they didnt think he would make it through the night.
I wasnt sure if I should go to the hospital as both my DD's have scarlet fever. However my cousin just phoned and said Grandad has just passed away. My Dad is driving down there and I didnt want to call on his mobile and tell him so I phoned my step mum and told her and she said she would phone my dad, did I do the right thing?
Very upset, OH works away all week so have no one here with me.
Sorry to hear about your loss. Almost exactly the same thing happened with my Nan this time last year. I live 150 miles away from where she was and it was very difficult. When she died, I felt very far away indeed. Do you have any friends you could ring?
I think you did do the right thing regarding telling your Dad.
Probably no friends free as they all have small kiddies in bed. One friend just phoned but I ignored the phone as i dont want to be crying down the phone to her.
I do feel very far away now. What happens now though regarding my Grandad? How soon until we have to start organising a funeral?
Thanks for your replies, this is the first loss I have really had since adulthood. x
