we were all very fond of her - she was only just in her 50s and got cancer around 6 weeks ago but it spread v quickly (she had had cancer before, years ago, but thought it was in remission). Her daughter lives next door with her (in her early 20s). We were out all day today but heard the news when we came back.
The children both made cards - one says 'Dear X (daughter) - I will miss Y (the mother) too' and the other one wrote 'Dear X (daughter) - I am sad your mummy has died'.
I think I should probably hold off giving them to her (think they are a bit emotive - would prob have me in tears if I got something like that) but am now wondering if I should let them give the cards to her, say tomorrow, and let her know that we are here if she needs us (she has other family around). What do you think?
