Bereavement

Bereavement support sites for teenagers - anyone know of any?

I'm asking on behalf of my sister who is 15 and just coming to terms with the death of our Dad, who died when she was just 14 months old.

She is mourning his death and also the life she thinks she would have had if he were still alive.

Our mum brushes the whole thing under the carpet and doesn't talk about it. She hasn't had another relationship since he died. She lives a very grown up, religious life and also has health problems herself, which make her lifestyle completely incompatible with that of a teenager. My Mum and sister have very little common ground and don't talk about important things. There is only Mum and dsis at home now, myself and my brothers are a lot older than dsis and we all moved out years ago.

I am 200 miles away and there is only so much I can do over the phone for her. She feels very alone at the moment. I think that talking to other kids her own age who have similar experiences would be good for her.

Does anyone know of any websites, particularly any with fora such as this one, that could help her?

TIA

Cheesy - there's www.winstonswish.org.uk - it's for children and young people.

I'm sorry that she's struggling. It's a difficult age at best. My dd is also having problems at the moment. She's 12 and lost a friend during the school holidays. A horrible accident with an air rifle Has health problems too and it's all getting a bit much I think.

Hope you can find a way to help.
