Arguing over mum's headstone

This probably seems trivial compared to what some of you are going through but I'm getting so upset over this.

DM was buried in the same plot as both of her parents. We need to add to the inscription to include her. Currently, the wording is very simple -

"In loving memory of
Grandad Watto
born x/x/x
died x/x/x

and

Granny Watto
born x/x/x
died x/x/x"

I think we should follow the same pattern for DM and simply add

"and
DM Watto
born x/x/x
died x/x/x"

However, dsis1 and dsis2 want 'and their beloved daughter' instead of 'and', and 'reunited' on the plinth (no room on the actual headstone). I have told them that I am happy to compromise and have 'and their daughter' and put 'reunited' on. However, I hate the word 'beloved' and really don't want it. I don't think I am being unreasonable as I have already compromised but they are using the '2 against 1' argument.

I'm also likely to be the only one tending the grave regularly as dsis2 lives hundreds of miles away and dsis1 has a 'thing' about cemeteries and doesn't want to visit.

I don't want to fall out with my sisters but I don't know what to do.

how about "loving" or "much loved"?

(I agree with you BTW Smile )

Why do you hate the word beloved? Does it accurately describe the relationship between your mum and her parents? If it doesn't, then I agree, it shouldn't be on there, but if it does, might that thought help you to come to terms with it?

I am sorry for your loss. Thanks

Thank you for the swift response! I'd rather nothing at all but I could live with 'loving'. I'll suggest it.

Beloved is an accurate word to describe their relationship but I just don't like it. I think the 'floweriness' of it jars with the rest of the inscription.
