You can have another but once you know you are pregnant they will scan you immediately so you can be sure it isn't ectopic. Good luck!

Hi sweetmum, your risk increases by 15% for a previous ectopic my gynae told me
I had ectopic 11/04 (lost a tube) and am now pregnant again - I had an early scan at 6 weeks to rule out another ectopic

My first pregnancy was ectopic, the tube burst then when I fell pregnant again I was scanned immediately only to find this one also ectopic, and this tube couldn't be saved. Nobody could give me any explanations for either ectopic just 'bad luck'. Without any tubes my only option was IVF and after my 3rd attempt I have a gorgeous DS. Just make sure you insist on an early scan to check all is well. Good luck

Hi Sweetmum - I am in the same position as you. Going to start trying for baby no.2 soon, and a bit worried about having another ectopic and losing my one remaining tube! I try and look on the bright side though. As everyone else says, insist on an early scan. Good luck!

Hey guyz thanxs so much...ectopic just seems so scary! i had gone back to my country to attend a wedding, and there i felt ill. i fainted during shopping, i had fever, i was at the last dayz of my periods and the pregnancy stick was showing i am not pregnant!..later when i went to show my ultrasound results at the hospital they told me i had an ectopic pregnancy. And i should spend the night in the hospital so they ll monitor me and in the morning they ll operate on me. Since i was born i have never ever been admitted to hospital for any reason and suddenly they were going to operate on me. i am just glad i got to know abt mine in time as my tube was saved.

I am sorry to hear abt you guyz.. its very difficult to go through!

KBear - thanxs , i hope i dont get it again!

Mirage - i will check that out..thanxs how old are your kids? boy/girl???

Piffle - i am sorry to hear about you losing a tube .. but Congrats on your pregnancy hope to hear the good news soon! how many months are you pregnant now?? and most importantly how do you feel ?

babyjojo - oh my God!poor you!what you must have gone through!!i cant even imagine.. oh my! and plus after trying so much, you are so desperate for a baby that you cant wait and what you must ve been through! i am really sorry to hear that. But thank God you have a DS now.. i am so happy for youuuu!!wish you all the luck .

Merrily - Wish you luck! yea, thats true..early scan is better..but i hope no one get ectopic .. its a huge disappointment when you cant wait for a baby! Good Luck and do let me knwo what happens!

Thanxs you guyz, just listening to all your experiences, makes me feel i am not alone. And you guyz went far through more than me. It has helped me to be able to cope more with it.

Hi sweetmum.I'm sorry my message before was a bit short, but dd2 was trying to crawl all over me at the same time.

I have two girls. My ectopic occured after ttc for 3 years with no success. After getting an appointment to start IVF,I found out I was pregnant naturally.Sadly it was ectopic, but luckily my tube was saved too.I decide to try again & was pregnant within weeks.I had an early scan & dd1 was born fit & healthy on her due date. When she was 1,we decided to try again,as we realised it might take a long time with my history, but I got pregnant immediately.DD2 was born last May.

My ectopic was put down to pure bad luck.I'd already had my tubes checked previously,so know one knows why it happened to me.

I hope that everything goes well for you.Just insist on an early scan.If your gp won't refer you,you can self refer to your local Early Pregnancy Assessment Unit.

I had an ectopic and lost the tube when it burst, but have gone onto concieve 3 more times since (but 2 ended up being m/c) and finally have a 12month ds.

Each time I was scanned at 6 weeks to check it wasn't another ectopic.

iT SEEMS TO ME, THAT IF YOU'VE HAD AN ECTOPIC, AND THEN GONE on to have a healthy baby, then surely you have a much better chance for the next pg as your remaining tube must be ok?

hi sweetmum,
i had two ectopics but the troublesome tube was removed and i then had dd. i used to post on the ectopic.org board, they are very helpful there, and i believe the deal is that after one ectopic you have a one in ten chance of another ectopic pregnancy HOWEVER if you have had a successful pregnancy and you are trying again your chances are more like normal.
have you ever had an hsg test? it would check to see if both tubes are open. i didn't have one as my doc wouldn't do it until i'd had three ectopics (nice guy) but i have heard that they can be useful.

Hi Guyz,

Mirage - what exactly is IVF? my DS is on hi way to bring 6 months old, he was born this March. I had C-section with him, my doc, who did my delivery (and not the one who operated me on the ectopic) told me i will just be able to have 1 or 2 more kids, or maybe 1 only, bcz of my ectopic bfr. She said even though the tube is saved its of no use, but then when she did my C-section, she told me that she has checked my tubes and they r perfectly fine so no worries - so that was a relief!

PanicPants - capitals ignored .. yea actually i still have both the tubes as mine was saved but its just scary bcz once you go through ectopic, its like you have more chances to get it again then someone who didnt went though ectopic.

aitch71 - HSG test?? i ll check with my doc about it.. it is done before you try to get pregnant? and what happens if they find out the tube is open?? how will they close.. dont tell me they'll operate again!! but i think mine should be okay as my doc checked my tubes while doing my C-section..??

sweetmum, you want your tubes to be open, so that the fertilised egg can travel down them and land successfully in your womb. that's good news if your doc said they looked good from the outside, and of course the fact that you have had a successful pregnancy since ectopic suggests that at least one of them is in tip-top condition.
the hsg basically flushed some dye through the tubes and the docs watch the dye moving to guauge if there are any blockages in the tube. some people like to know, especially if they have both tubes left, that both are open. good luck, i hope everything goes easily and uneventfully for you again.
