Wary about going to PIL

We're going to PIL tomoro night/Sat morning and I'm feeling a bit wary because it was when we were visiting them that our ds died. Can't really not go because dh and dd will want to see them as I do, but still feeling a bit cautious.

The weekend was alright. It still feels a bit odd when we go there but hopefully that may get better??? Still think i'm 'looking for' ds, like I expect to find him when we're there?

Do you mind me asking what happened? If it's too much for you then feel free to ignore me.

we went ot visit PIL in May 2005 with 9 week old ds. We went to see DH's friends who gave ds a bottle and sat him up to burp him when ds started screaming. We thought perhaps bad wind or colic and tried rocking etc we eventually took him to a&e at the local hospital who referred us to the next nearest childrens hospital. they examined ds and said he needed an op for a hernia , dh went home to PIL to get some stuff for me and ds as I would have to stay overnight. As soon as the op was mentioned I knew it would nt be alright. I signed the consent form for the op and carried ds up to the theatre and handed him to a dr, the op was supposed to be about 45 minutes. They took ages, DH came back and we waited. Then a nurse called us into their office/staffroom and said he was having trouble breathing and they had put him on a ventilator. Then we were told an ambulance crew from Guys in London was coming out to transfer him there. Eventually a consultant came in to say he had made a turn for the worse and did we want to see him, they brought him into us and he died in our arms from intrapulmonary shunting.
