Sorry to hear that Poppies -its understandable that you're sad. My Gran died last year and although she'd had a long and happy life its still sad accepting that you won't see them again isn't it Sad

Oh sweetheart Sad

104 is amazing, but I know it's small comfort when you lose someone you love that they "had a good innings".

Thinking of you and your family x x x x

104 - wow! My grandmother died earlier in the year, it was sad as she was one of the last of that generation of family. My grandad's brother came to the funeral and was distraught. Of course it's sad, even if its "right" in the scheme of things.

Very sad for you, poppies Sad Grandmothers are wonderful people. My MIL is 83 this year, my kids love her to bits, I hate to think of this coming to them one day.

Not trivial at all. so sorry for your loss. A sympathies to your mother too. I hope those 104 years were good ones for your nan. Imagine all the things she must have seen. WOW.

104 year old dying is not trivial at all. It must have seemed as if she could live forever.

I am sorry for your loss.

poppiesinaline · 17/05/2006 09:27

again thanks everyone. It did seem like she would go on forever! And up until about 4 weeks ago she was perfectly fine. Still had all her marbles Wink.

I know - she has seen two World Wars (lost her father in the 1st World War who also died on 16th May!).

I feel for you - my Grandad is 92 and still very active but I am desperate when I think he might not be around forever. My DD (7) and DS (4) love him to pieces and he spoils them rotten! So i think you have every right to be sad - I don't think the 'good innings' thing is much comfort. I still want my Da forever!

When you love someone, whatever age you lose them it's too soon.

Thinking of you.

sorry poppies. :(

My granddad died 9 years ago and I still miss him tons. I really wish he could have met my children. :(

Glad you obviously had a lovely relationship with your Nan - it is sad when a loved one dies, even when they're 104.

Sad I'm so sorry poppies. I lost my Nan in January and I still can't get used to it. I can hear her voice in my head even now. Smile

Look after yourself. Do give me a shout on MSN if you fancy a chat. Thinking of you and your family. xxxx

How are you doing Poppies?

Report

Really feel for you Poppies. I lost my gran 2 years ago and I still get sad about it sometimes. She was 97 so also had so to say a very good innings.

I thought I was prepared for her to go at any time (due to her age and frailty) but it was still a shock because she'd always been there and she was fab.

Grandparents rock.
