Not sure DS understands Nan's death? (his great-grandmother)

He hasn't cried, except once when she was dying in hospital. He hasn't "reacted" in any way, at all...

Is that normal?

She died on Friday just gone, after 2 weeks in hospital - I've told him she's happy now in Heaven with his great-grandad....

DS is 10, by the way and knows "death" through pets dying

He might feel he doesn't want to upset you by crying in front of you? Or perhaps in his mind he feels that she lived to a good age and is ow in heaven so it isn't that sad?

I didn't cry when my grandad died when I was 13. I felt sad, but didn't cry.

I don't think it's that he doesn't want to upset me, really - I just find it peculiar that he hasn't reacted at all.. doesn't even seem upset, really

It has thrown me a bit

You could try reading Badger's Parting Gifts by Susan Varley with him....if nothing else, it may encourage some questions and some sharing of emotions.
