Fed up - PM results in but not been typed up yet

We were told the week before xmas that the post mortem results for our baby were back and that they would try to give us the results before the new year so that mentally i could start the new year with a fresh slate and try and move on.

Basically we didn't get the results between xmas and new year and was told that we had an appointment with the consultant on 3rd Jan to go over the results. I then had a call to tell me that there is a backlog in pathology and the pathologist hasn't had time to dictate the results for his secretaty to type up. So my appointment has been cancelled and they have absolutely no idea how long the back log will take to clear.

I can be perfectly rational and understand that there is a process in the hospital and that everyone who is waiting for pm results is no more worthy of getting them sooner than anyone else etc etc...but I just cannot bear the thought that the results are in and I have known this for 2 weeks and it's STILL hanging over my head... but because of bloody admin my little boy is still lying waiting and we as a family cannot put an end to the horror that has been the last month. (there's also a backlog at the crematorium so we haven't been able to cremate him either). Bloody christmas and new year!

Sorry for rambling, just really needed to get it off my chest.

That is so awful Do you have anyone at the hospital who is dealing with your situation individually who can move things on for you.They are unbelievably insensitive at times.Is your dh at home with you full time now?I hope this gets sorted out soon and you can grieve properly and move on xxxx

noddy, the person dealing with us is the person who phoned to say appnt cancelled and they had no idea when we might get results....it was a bit like the Little Britain sketch "computer says no" !!

I'm so sorry, dhw. Having a dh who works in the NHS I know how busy and short-staffed they can be but this really isn't good enough - how long does it take to type up a report FGS? I know that doesn't help but I'm angry on your behalf. I really hope you get the results sooner rather than later and can draw a line under this part of it all and start to move on. And it's so awful that you haven't been able to have the funeral yet. I've nothing useful to say really - just wanted to acknowledge your post.

Can she not give you a resume of what is in it to save you more days of agony?I suppose there will be no one there today though.I would ring them tomorrow and lay it on thick about how you have been leading up to the 3rd and that this delay will interrupt your healing process
