Not following height curve - anyone got experience of this?

My dd3 is 3.1. She started life on the 25th centile for height and according to genetic potential should end up on the 25th centile as an adult. But she is now just over te 2nd centile. She is on the 50th centile for weight, is thriving, capable and bright.

I'm going to have to have her checked out by the GP on advice of HV, but I was wondering what sort of things they look for that could cause runtiness!

I have the same thing with one of my dd's who is 5. She started life on the 75th, now her weight is on the 25th and height on the bottom.
She too is bright and bonny and now healthy after suffering for a long time from uti's.
At a recent health check at school the nurse banged on about watching her weight as she gets older wtf?
When I challenged her as to what they would do if she remained small, eg "are you going to stretch her?" they said growth hormones were an option when she hit puberty.
My attitude is that someone has to be on the 2nd centile, I'd say 2 out of 100 people!!!!!
I think far too much store is put by these blooming charts. Children develop at different rates. If she is happy and healthy what's wrong with being small?

We (by which I mean DS2!) got referred for "runtiness". DS2 also started on approx the 25th, dropped to between 2nd and 9th centile. Also happy, healthy etc. He had blood tests to check for coeliac disease and other stuff and a bone age calc done by x-ray.

Nothing showed up. He was monitored for 2 yrs at 6mth intervals by the paed but when he followed his new curve (if you see what I mean) we were discharged.

He's still smallish - but perfectly formed! I'm not worried about him.

Thanks. It does help. Glad stretching not a considered option. I'm pretty runty myself - was called Microdot at school by all the teachers and seem to have achieved a size whereby I'm not usually referred to as a runt, but my husband does say I am only 4 foot 14 and 3 quarters...
