9 month old DS with swollen, red nipples...normal??

DS last night had one red, swollen looking nipple, the other was completely normal. Now this morning both are looking like this! . Is this normal for boys? They are quite a vivid reddy/pink in colour and the size of them has definitely increased. Doesn't seem to be causing him any grief, just looks really strange. Any ideas what it could be?

Just a thought but there was recently something in dh's BMJ (British Medical Journal) about bath products with lavender in them causing boys to develop swollen 'breasts'. However, I know what dh would say if he read this, which is take ds to your GP........

Just looked back at that article and the problems were in older kids so probably not relevant (although did make me resolve not to use lavender on ds in future!)
